I just would wish, severely, that I could buy something that would fit in my SLR that I currently have. I spent so much money on 2 bodies and god knows how many filters and accessories, all manual focus.I kept these things pristine and made my own foam cases for them. I still can't figure out why, if I can do whatever I want to the bodies, why I can't buy a digital CCD that fits in place and uses the film sections for storage and/or connections with a thin ribbon cable.I have so many filters, hoods, flashes, remotes, adapters, hell one lens I found at a swap still costs thousands. It didn't cost me that and I got lucky, but I refuse to let it gather dust and refuse to get a digital SLR body when I have everything I need. Some are coated against everything, some I love because they are so smooth when zooming. Some I could carry in a backpack. It kinda sucks.Why should I spend thousands on a digital body? I mean WHY? It was just a hobby over the years, not a profession with a write-off.
The shuttle is great feat of engineering and I don't think they should retire the entire fleet, but frankly, the shuttle has limitations. The Saturn V rocket design is brilliant and from an engineering prospective, it makes more sense to dump extra weight and have as small a payload living area as possible. If we go back to the moon and beyond we will definitely have to use a Saturn V design. I think that NASA should not retire the entire fleet and keep two shuttles around and then go ahead with the Aries (i think) rocket design. Hey, but I'm in aerospace and I think NASA's budget should be tripled and ideally be at the same level it was during the space race. :)
