Back when I worked on the last updates for the QW version of Team Fortress (the first one), a bunch of ideas were floated around between Robin, John and I (and sometimes Ian). One idea was definitely a guard dog that the scout would control. Not only could he order the dog to attack and retrieve flags, but it could be told to "sit and stay" anywhere you wanted (flag, fort entrance, etc.) and either bark or attack when enemies were seen.Another idea I remember was one for the spy, where he could deploy an "inflatable" dummy that looked like an enemy unit (to the enemy). It would act as though it was coming at you to attack you or appear that it was carrying the flag. If it was attacked, it would explode. We actually had that one working but it was scrapped.
