I delivered in a very safe area, and an "Incident" for us was to have one of our female drivers verbally sexually harassed by someone who was obviously drunk. We only had one trailer park in our delivery area. It was a nice one, with paved roads, lighting landscaping etc. One night I got an order for an address well back in that trailer park The trailer park is far enough from the shop that it took several minutes to get there. I had to pull over as several cars from the local Sheriff's Department went past with lights and sirens. On that road, that happens often enough that the only thing that got my attention was that there were several of them. I was expecting that there was a bad accident at a known problem interchange beyond the trailer park. I got to the trailer park, and there was no backup so I didn't give it a second thought. When I got back to the back, most of the Sheriff's department and several state troopers were back there, I found the address and that was what they had their spotlights on. Drug raid! Couldn't have made it much more obvious! I was still in the car, and one of the deputies told me, "You might as well take it back. He won't need it where he's going!" I was about to just go ahead and lose the sale(We DO get both commission and mileage, and when we have to cancel an order after it's left the shop, it is essentially a waste that we don't get paid for. The deputy beside him must have realized that, because he said, "Wait!" What did he order, because I'm starved, and we're going to be here a while!" The cops ended up buying the nearly $50 order, with a generous tip. The good news is I saved the biggest order of the night, and even got a decent tip out of it. I also got the single strangest delivery I had ever done up to that point. The bad news is, when an order gets canceled after the driver already is out the door with it,, the driver gets to take the pizzas home for free. I didn't get a weeks worth of free pizza, but I got a good tip and a decent story.
